Claudible uses a credit system (☘️) to make pricing simple and predictable. This guide explains how credits work and how to get the most value from them.
What Are Credits?
Credits are Claudible's universal currency. Instead of tracking complex token prices for each model, you work with a single number that represents your spending power.
How Costs Are Calculated
When you use Claude, costs are calculated based on:
- Input tokens - What you send to Claude (prompts, context, files)
- Output tokens - What Claude generates in response
- Model choice - Different models have different rates
The formula is simple:
Cost = (Input Tokens × Input Price) + (Output Tokens × Output Price)
Model Pricing
Each model has different rates. Check the Pricing page for current rates. Generally:
- Haiku - Most affordable, great for simple tasks
- Sonnet - Balanced performance and cost
- Opus - Most capable, higher cost
Tips for Managing Credits
Use the Right Model
Don't use Opus for everything. Simple questions and routine tasks work great with Haiku at a fraction of the cost.
Be Concise
Shorter, clearer prompts mean fewer input tokens. Get to the point and you'll save credits.
Watch Your Context
Long conversations accumulate tokens. Start fresh when switching topics to avoid paying for irrelevant context.
Monitor the Statusline
Keep an eye on the cost indicator in your statusline. It updates in real-time so you always know what you're spending.
Subscription Plans
Monthly subscribers get daily credit allocations that reset each day. Check our Pricing page for current plans.
